Song of the Week #5

And we’re back with the Song of the Week posts! Didn’t mean to disappear for such a long time, but it can be hard to think of a song AND something to say about every week. I’ll try to do better on that. Anyways, this week’s song is special to me because it’s the first song that my old music teacher picked out for me to learn. And that song is - The Show by Lenka.
More below the break...
So yeah, if it weren’t for my teacher Kelly I probably wouldn’t be here today writing and singing songs like I do now. Before her music was just something I kinda did. I wrote one song and it was very good (trust me. It was terrible!) but she helped me arrange Lift Your Head Up and inspired me to make Dream On (and touch the Sky) what it is today (it was that terrible song I was talking about). I am incredibly grateful to her and was very sad to see her go, though happy she was off to pursue her on musical dreams.

Now, more about the song. The Show is a pretty generic song by an Australian artist. Though it’s a pretty typical bubblegum-pop song I like its message. Come to think of it, that’s probably why my songs are the way they are. Huh.

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment

I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down
I know, I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show

This is pretty much a summary of life. No one’s really got if all figured out. No one really knows what they’re doing 100% of the time. Sometimes, it’s just better to relax and not worry about things. Easier said than done right? Still, if people worry less and enjoy the little things in life more, this world would be a much nicer place.
